A Perfect Tenjyou
With this Tenjyou - simply put, I can do no wrong with this stone. The slurry is always perfect and the feedback is consistent each time I work it.
This one makes a slightly pasty type of slurry that is in the middle on all points; speed, coarse/fine, etc.
The color seems to be very white, with enough orange to earn it the quality grade of Tokkyu. The top and sides have been sealed with Cashew lacquer to preserve the stamps and to limit the amount of water that can soak in.

Mikawa Shiro Tenjyou Nagura

Partially Striped Tenjyou Nagura
This is another piece of Tenjyou that’s been sealed on the top and sides with Cashew Lacquer. This treatment protects the stamps and limits the amount of water that will get into the stone during use.
This Tenjyou has sort of a split personality; one side is nearly white while the other side has heavy orange stripes. The resulting slurry is a mix of pasty and granular with mid-range speed. It starts off lightly aggressive and it breaks down to be quite fine. This is a very interesting stone to work with.
