Dovo Fritz Bracht 14

Very possibly an extremely rare straight razor from Dovo; manufactured during the Fritz Bracht era, perhaps in the 1940s, this blade’s width measures a hair over 15/16”; most definitely this was a full 8/8” originally. The scales are original, as are the wedge, the wedge pin/collar, and the 3rd pin assembly. The scales show stress cracks near the pivot – see last pic. The original pin was removed, and a brass thrust washer was epoxied into place on the inside to provide support. The fissures were stabilized by allowing adhesive to penetrate into the cap. Another thrust washer was installed on the opposite side of the blade, and a new nickel silver pivot pin from Dovo keeps the assembly snug, and centered.

Boker #14 Full Hollow

Vintage Boker #14, very nearly 8/8 full hollow. Not sure if scales and collars are original, but this setup is how the razor arrived. Very rare, very unusual blade for Boker, most examples 5/8 or 6/8 with a few 7/8 seen here/there. Scales are plastic, original plastic wedge was trash so I installed a new brass wedge. The collars are brass, new pins are also brass. The scales were not rigid enough to support the blade well, so I installed a block of G10 between the scales. The 3rd pin holds the support system in place.

These Solingen Herder straight razors are winners. They take great edges and they shave wonderfully. This one has a 6/8” blade with a full hollow grind that is a little stiffer than you’d expect.
