I believe this is a #8 La Verte Bout, what I can say with certainty however, is that this Verte is a a particularly nice razor hone. While the very hardest Vertes might have a teensy bit of an advantage for maximum sharpness, this bout’s hardness and speed allows one to produce very keen edges quite easily. The size is perfect for hand-held or bench work, and it’s shape/size make it an excellent choice for travel also.
