I struggle with where to put this stone. When honing razors, it ‘can’ be used for bevel setting. But, in my progression, that spot is held by the 1.5k – so the 2k is more like the beginning of mid-range, post bevel-set. This is a solid stone, and one advantage of using it for bevel setting is that, when done, the edge is a little bit further along that it would be off the 1.5k. It’s a hard stone, but the 1.5k is harder. And comparted to the 1.5k, The 2k’s feedback is notable smoother; since it’s finer that makes perfect sense. For cutlery, this is a wonderful finisher for those blades you don’t need to put a high polish on…. It leaves some tooth, but it’s minor so you can get, sorta, the best of both worlds.
