Arkansas stones are graded according to their density; ‘Soft’, ‘Hard’ and ‘True-Hard/Translucent/Surgical Black. ‘Washita’ stones are also Arkansas Novaculites; they are more porous, and known to be fast cutters. They were graded numerically, #1, #2, and ‘Lily White’.
