Washita

Washita, or Quachita – is often pronounced Wah-sheet-ah, or Wa-cheet-ah, or Wah-Chi-Taw, and possibly other ways also. These can be considered to be, typically, the softest of the Arkansas novaculite stones. For the most part, this type of stone is no longer being quarried; when you hear an old-timer speak of ‘the good stone’ that you can’t get anymore, this is probably what they are referring to.
