Nakayama Kiita Caramello
A darker Kiita, very pure, very hard and very fine. This is one of the silkiest and creamiest stones I’ve ever honed on. It’s very hard, a stone’s throw short of super-hard actually. Lapping it was a major chore; I put in a solid 60 minutes with a 140x Atoma plate to get it flat and then maybe another 15-20 minutes dressing it up with a well worn 400x Atoma.
One corner is still a teensy bit low but it’s a small portion of the stone that won’t interfere with honing.
Honestly – It almost doesn’t get better than this; it’s a solid 9.8 out of 10 on the scale of stones to die for meter.
