Ribbon razors were manufactured by Kikuboshi, and designed by R. Saito. The design is very utilitarian, and it’s executed extremely well. The balance is remarkable. The scales feature inset textured sides that are quite tactile, even with wet fingers. The shoulder-less ½ hollow western grind has just the right amount of stiffness. The steel is typical Kikuboshi wonderfulness; it’s a little bit on the harder side when compared to most Solingen blades, and it takes a stellar edge.
