English Bridle is a durable yet supple, premium steer hide that is vegetable-tanned and drum dyed from deep consistent color through and through. These hides were finished ‘dry’ so they’re fast with a tactile draw. In my opinion, to make a comparison – the action, or feedback, is at a nice mid-point between cordovan shell and my velvet-finished horsehide.
Like I do with all of my strops - I bevel all edges on both sides and the bolster also. I give the long edges a bit of burnishing also.
The rivets and swivel hook are chrome-plated steel and I leave the end ‘plain’ - which is also known as a barber’s end.
Here’s a massive 3” wide Bridle Strop - this one is just off-the-hook wicked cool.
