Type 3 strops are made from Flax Linen Fire Hose that can be described as a hybrid of the material used in the ‘Type 1’ and ‘Type 2’ strops. The gauge of the hose seems to be somewhat closer to the ‘Type 2’ but the weave is more aggressive and on-par with the ‘Type 1’ hose. This type of hose seems to hail from the mid-to-late 1960s.
