Nakayama Karasu

Nakayama Trans Karasu 1

  Nakayama Karasu Tomo Nagura

Here’s another incredible Tomo that was salvaged from a badly broken razor-size Awasedo. This piece of Nakayama Karasu is a real prize, the Karasu pattern is subtle and it seems to be almost holographic. Originally, it was described as being a ‘translucent’ Karasu.  I understood that better once I saw it in person. The slurry it produces is furiously fast and ridiculously fine; maxing out on takes skill and the resulting edges are always whisker-melters. This notably hard piece of stone is easy to make slurry with, but it shines on a harder Honzan.
