Hard Speckled Verte
La Verte Coticules can be killer razor hones. Usually, but not always, they’re a little harder than most of the other veins and the edges they give up can be exceedingly keen and smooth.
This particular stone is on the harder side of things, but it is not one of the stupid-hard Verte’s. That puts it into a very nice place for someone honing razors, it’s fast enough to do the post-bevel-set midrange work easily enough, and hard enough to put a stellar edge on any razor.
I believe this qualifies as a #8 bout, but I’m not 100% certain.
