Premium-Plus 4 Piece Set - Botan, Tenjyou, Mejiro and Koma
Here’s a tested and matched 4-piece set of Asano Stamped Mikawa Shiro Nagura.
This is a complete set of Botan, Tenjyou, Mejiro and Koma. These 4 stones have have been used/tested repeatedly on a good number of stones with 4-5 different razors; they’ve work exceedingly well together in a razor honing progression.
The ‘Premium-Plus' designation is my own – I use it to classify matched sets of the larger stones that weigh around 200 g. While the smaller Nagura can have the same performance qualities, I find the larger stones easier to hold, handle and work with. These larger stones are cut from higher quality stock for professional/commercial use.
The stamps have been sealed and protected with 2 coats of clear lacquer.
Botan, Betsu Ju – 234 g / Fast stone with slightly granular feedback.
Tenjyou, Tokkyuu – 205 g / Medium speed with a silky pasty feel; very fine.
Mejiro, Tokkyuu – 218 g / Slow stone, textured pasty under the blade; very fine.
Koma, Betsu Ju – 198 g / Fast, textured feel at first, gets silky quickly. Very old stone.
