This is a 6” Carborundum Combination stone that split apart while I was lapping it. The original adhesive had dried out and the two halves of the stone just came apart in my hands.
I cleaned off the old glue, lapped those sides a bit to clear any residual crud, and dried them off. Then – I put a thin layer of waterproof epoxy on the coarse side with a toothpick. After that – I let the epoxy set for a few minutes and then I clamped the pieces together.
In about a week – I’ll lap off the sides and the stone will be like new and ready to work again.
